How to view reports - P&L, BS and CF

Profit and Loss

​Odoo ERP has a Profit and Loss report that can be accessed by selecting the Profit and Loss option from the Reporting tab in the Accounting module1. The report displays income, expenses, and net profit for a given period of time

1. To run a Profit and Loss report. Just go to your Accounting Module > Reporting > Profit and Loss. 




2. After clicking on Profit and Loss, you will be directed to this page. You can add filters by using the buttons highlighted in the red box below




3. Date Filter 
Current Period- Can be This Month, This Quarter, or This Financial Year
Previous Period - Can be the End of Last Month / Quarter / Year  
Custom - You can add the date range and click on Apply. 

 


4. Comparison Filter
No Comparison - If you do not want to have any comparison.
Previous Period - If you want to compare it to the previous period. You can also select the number of periods to which you want to have a comparison.
Same Period Last year - If you want to compare your PL report to the same period as last year. You can also select the number of periods to which you want to compare your PL reports.
Custom - If you want to compare it to a specific period. Add the date range and click on Apply.  



5. Journals - if you only want to see PL transactions affecting specific journals, you can select the Journal/s from here. But we always use "All" journals for the Profit and Loss report. 


 

6. i) Analytic Group By- This will be used if you have analytic accounts. The report can be viewed according to the  analytic classifications  (Accounts & Plans)
   ii) Analytic Filter -  The report can be filtered with the analytic accounts created. 






7. Options:
Include Unposted Entries - Check on this option if you want to include draft entries in your profit and loss. We normally use this option at the implementation stage wherein we will be importing entries for balances. But we don't use it after the implementation stage.
Include Analytic Simulations - Analytic filters will include analytic items without accounting correspondence
Hierarchy and Subtotals - if you want to include the subtotals in your report.
Unfold All - If you want to have a detailed report, check on Unfold all. But if you only need a summary, uncheck this option.
Cash Basis Method- Report on a cash basis
 

8. Print Preview, Export and Save button
PDF- Click on this button if you want to save your Profit and Loss report into a pdf document.
XLSX - Click on this button if you want to export this report to an excel file.
Save - Click on this button if you want to Save your Profit and Loss report in your Documents app



Balance Sheet

In Odoo ERP, the balance sheet is a financial statement that summarizes the company’s assets, liabilities, and equity. It provides a clear idea of what the company owns and owes and is an essential financial report for any business as it helps determine the company’s financial health, liquidity, and overall performance.
You can access this report by selecting the Balance Sheet option from the Reporting tab in the Accounting module.


1. To run a Balance Sheet report, go to the Accounting Module > Reporting > Balance Sheet. 



2. After clicking on the Balance Sheet, you will be directed to this page. You can add filters by using the buttons highlighted in the red box below.




3. Date Filter 
Today -As of Today
Previous Period - End of Last Month / Quarter /  Year  
Custom - You can add the date range and click on Apply. 



4. Comparison Filter
No Comparison - If you do not want to have any comparison.
Previous Period - If you want to compare it to the previous period. You can also select the number of periods to which you want to have a comparison.
Same Period Last year - If you want to compare your Balance Sheet to the same period as last year. You can also select the number of periods to which you want to compare your Balance Sheet.
Custom - If you want to compare it to a specific period. Add the date range and click on Apply.

Executive Summary

1. To run an Executive Summary report, go to the Accounting Module > Reporting > Executive Summary.

 


2. After clicking on Executive Summary, you will be directed to this page. You can add filters by using the buttons highlighted in the red box below. 



3Date Filter 
Current period - Can be This Month, This Quarter, or This Financial Year
Previous period - Can be Last Month, Last Quarter, Last Financial Year
Custom - You can add the date range and click on Apply




4. Comparison Filter
No Comparison - If you do not want to have any comparison.
Previous Period - If you want to compare it to the previous period. You can also select the number of periods to which you want to have a comparison.
Same Period Last year - If you want to compare your Executive Summary to the same period as last year. You can also select the number of periods to which you want to compare your Executive Summary.
Custom - If you want to compare it to a specific period. Add the date range and click on Apply. 




5. Options:

Cash Flow Statement 

This will enable us to see the current situation of the company's cash. If you can remember when we created GL accounts, there is an option to add tags so some GL accounts. The tags that we added for the accounts will be used for the Cash flow statement.

1. Go to the Accounting Module > Reporting > Cash Flow Statement 




2. After clicking on Cash Flow Statement, you will be directed to this page. You can add filters by using the buttons highlighted in the red box below.
