How to Sell an Asset

To sell an asset in Odoo, you can go to the asset’s form view and click on the ‘Sell’ button. This will open a new form where you can enter the sale date, sale price, and other details related to the sale.

How to Sell an Asset

To sell an asset in Odoo, first, you need to create an Invoice for the sale.

Step 1 - Create a Sales Invoice

1. Create an Invoice for the Sale of the asset. Go to the Accounting Module > Customers > Invoices 

 
2. Click Create and Fill out the necessary fields:
   * Select the customer
   * Invoice date
   * Payment Reference - Add a reference
   * Label - Add the Label of the Invoice. ( Sale Description)
   * Account - you can use a Sale of an Asset Account. Eg: Sales of Fixed Assets
   * Price -Enter the Selling price of the asset.
   * Taxes - Select the appropriate Tax code

 
3. Click Confirm
4. Note down the Invoice Number 


Step 2 - Sell the Asset (Creating the Asset Entry)

1. Go to the Accounting Module > Accounting > Assets. 

 
2.  Open the asset that you are going to sell. 

3. Click on the "Modify Depreciation" Button 

 
4. Upon selecting sell option, You will be asked update the following, 
    Date- Select the date of asset's sale
    Customer Invoice - Select the Invoice you created for this sale
    Invoice line - You can select the line from invoice which you have created (if you have multiple lines)
    Loss account - Select "Gain/Loss Account on Asset Disposal"
    Note - You can add any notes 

 
5. Click on SELL to sell the asset. 

 
6. After that, it will create a draft entry for you. Check the Details and click POST.
