Setting Up Locations

Location is a specific space within your warehouse. It can be considered as a sublocation of your warehouse, as a shelf, a floor, an aisle, etc. Therefore, a location is part of one warehouse only and it is not possible to link one location to multiple warehouses. You can configure as many locations as you need under one warehouse.

There are few types of locations:

  • Internal Location
  • Vendor Location
  • Customer Location
  • Inventory Loss Location
  • Production Location
  • Transit Location

In order to be able to create different locations, you will need to activate multi-locations in the settings which can be done by:

1. Navigating Inventory > Configuration >  Settings

2. Under Warehouse, tick on Storage Locations

3. Go to Inventory > Configuration > Locations > New

4. Fill in the details:

  • Location Name - Type the location name
  • Parent Location - Select the parent location from the options available
  • Location Type - Internal Location, Vendor Location, Customer Location, Inventory Loss Location, Production Location or Transit Location
  • Is a Scrap Location? - if you want the location to be suggested when scrapping a product
  • Is a Return Location? - if you want the location to be suggested when creating a return
